Categories of Accreditation
1. Full Accreditation
is awarded for programs meeting all of the curriculum standards of NAWTA. There currently two different levels of full accreditation. A five-year period of accreditation is available for those academic institutions that have previously held the three-year accreditation. Institutions meeting the curriculum standards for the first time will be granted accreditation for a three-year period. A fee of $150 will apply for the fiv-year accreditation and a fee of $100 will apply for the three-year accreditation (both in U.S. funds).
2. One-year Conditional Accreditation
is awarded for programs meeting most of the curriculum standards of NAWTA. With only slight modifications to their program the institution can be expected to meet the standards for full accreditation the following year. Re-application must be made at the annual meeting following the award of the one-year conditional accreditation. A fee of $50 (U.S. funds) will apply. If full accreditation is met the following year an additional fee of $50 will cover the remaining two years of accreditation.
3. Deferred Action
is given to those programs who have not provided the proper documentation to allow the Accreditation Committee to fully evaluate their program. Specific additional information will be required to be submitted in the future for consideration. Wildlife programs must have been delivered to students before accreditation can be awarded.
4. Disapproval
is given to those programs not meeting the curriculum standards of NAWTA. The program may not meet the total hour requirements or may be missing more han one of the technical subject areas that are need for accreditation, etc.
