NAWTA Accreditation
The North American Wildlife Technology Association (NAWTA), accredits educational programs in wildlife and fisheries technology offered as two-year or three-year, terminal, associate degrees, diplomas, or their equivalent in Canada and the United States.
Programs are required to have classroom, indoor laboratory, and field experiences necessary to develop field competency recognizing regionally specific knowledge, skill sets, and aptitudes. Correspondence or online programs do not qualify.
The benefits of accreditation are numerous. Listed below are just a few.
- An accredited institution is recognized by industry as producing graduates capable of performing tasks required by wildlife technicians.
- As an accredited institution, you join a community of like-minded individuals who share curricular and pedagogical approaches.
- Transfer agreements are in place that welcome students from NAWTA accredited institutions as third year students into baccalaureate programs.
- Invitation to annual professional development meetings.
- Low accreditation fees (in order to promote attendance at annual PD meetings).
